Happy 53rd Birthday to Marshall Faulk

Today we celebrate one of the most electrifying players in NFL history — St. Louis Rams legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk.

Born February 26, 1973, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Faulk’s journey to greatness began at George Washington Carver High School before blossoming into stardom at San Diego State and ultimately the NFL. Selected 2nd overall in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Faulk immediately showcased the rare blend of speed, vision, and receiving ability that would redefine the running back position.

After four standout seasons in Indianapolis, Faulk was traded to the St. Louis Rams — a move that changed NFL history.

The Engine of “The Greatest Show on Turf”

Wearing No. 28, Faulk became the centerpiece of the Rams’ explosive offense known as “The Greatest Show on Turf.” His versatility as both a runner and receiver made him nearly impossible to defend. Whether slicing through defenses on the ground or catching passes in open space, Faulk was a matchup nightmare.

He played 12 NFL seasons and appeared in 176 career games, earning:

  • NFL MVP (2000)

  • 3× Offensive Player of the Year

  • 7 Pro Bowl selections

  • Super Bowl XXXIV Champion

Faulk’s dominance helped deliver a Lombardi Trophy to St. Louis and cemented one of the most exciting eras in franchise history.

Hall of Fame Legacy

On February 5, 2011, Faulk was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and on August 6, 2011, he was officially enshrined in Canton — forever recognized among football’s all-time greats.

Marshall Faulk didn’t just rack up yards — he revolutionized the position. He proved that a running back could be the focal point of a modern passing attack while remaining elite on the ground.

Today, St. Louis celebrates not just a Hall of Famer, but a transformational player who helped define an era of football excellence.

Happy 53rd Birthday, No. 28! 🐏🏈
