The stage was set at the MSHAA Girls Wrestling Championships — and Nico Brooks once again rose to the moment.
Brooks captured a 3rd-place finish at this year’s state tournament, earning her second career state medal and cementing her place in program history as the first two-time state medalist in the Hillsboro Girls Wrestling Program.
In a tournament filled with the best competition from across Missouri, Brooks battled through a grueling bracket with the same relentless motor and composure that has defined her career. After an early-round setback, she fought her way back through the consolation side with determination, stacking wins and refusing to let her season end short of the podium.
Her third-place victory was a statement — not just of talent, but of toughness.

A Program-Changing Achievement
Girls wrestling continues to grow rapidly across Missouri under the sanctioning of the Missouri State High School Activities Association, and Brooks has been at the forefront of that growth for Hillsboro.

By earning her second medal, she has:
Set the standard for future Hawks wrestlers
Elevated the profile of the program statewide
Proven that sustained excellence is possible on the biggest stage
Her success reflects years of dedication — early mornings, hard practices, weight-room sessions, and an unwavering belief in her goals.
Relentless Effort. Unmatched Grit.
Championship tournaments aren’t just about skill — they’re about resilience. Brooks demonstrated both. Every scramble, every takedown attempt, every defensive stand showed why she’s one of the most respected competitors in the bracket.
Moments like this define programs.

Congratulations to Nico Brooks, her teammates, and the entire Hillsboro coaching staff
on an incredible accomplishment. The Hawks continue to build something special — and history has officially been made.
